Interviews

The BMC Admissions Committee will review complete applications immediately after the application deadline. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted via e-mail. Applicants who do not receive an email have not been selected for an interview.

Interviews are scheduled for mid-February and take place on the Mississauga campus. (Please refer to Important Dates.) If you are selected for an interview, you will be asked to choose your three preferred interview time slots based on options provided in your invitation e-mail. Please reply promptly as interviews are scheduled in the order responses are received. You will receive e-mail confirmation of the day and time of your interview.

The interview committee consists of two BMC faculty. Applicants must bring their portfolios and be prepared to discuss one art piece of their choice in detail – for example, purpose, preparation, planning, composition, design decisions. The interviewers may also ask about other pieces in an applicant’s portfolio. Applicants will have an opportunity to ask any questions they may have.

Although the interviewers prefer to meet applicants in person, it is understood that for some people it may be a hardship to attend  – for example, you do not live in or near the Toronto area. In that case, a remote, online interview can be arranged. However, it is strongly recommended that applicants attend in person, particularly if applicants are considering other programs. The interview provides an opportunity to meet with BMC faculty, current graduate students and tour our state-of-the-art facilities and scenic campus.

Light refreshments are available throughout the morning and afternoon, and graduate students are present to give tours of our facility and to answer questions.

After Your Interview

After the interviews have been conducted, the BMC Admissions Committee meets to determine whom to present to the Institute of Medical Science (IMS) for admission to the program. All applicants must be approved by the IMS. The IMS Admissions Committee meets monthly.

Applicants admitted to the Program must demonstrate that their immunizations are current and that they have been screened for TB.
